Georgia - Atlanta - EC

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), as part of their initial designation recommendations submittal to EPA in early 2025, has recommended that all areas of Georgia be declared in attainment with the new annual PM2.5 NAAQS, that was published by EPA in 2024, lowering the standard from 12 ug/m3 to 9 ug/m3. However, EPA has until October 9, 2025, to notify Georgia EPD of any concerns regarding their recommendations. In addition, amidst recent EPA changes and the ability to delay designation decisions by a year, it may not be until early 2027 that EPA makes its designations final for the new annual PM2.5. Feel free to reach out to the Trinity Atlanta office for more information and recent updates.
